Our Trip into Roma (Rome)

Hi guys,

Well it has been a pretty whirlwind couple of weeks, and before we get too far behind (bloody hell we have seen heaps!) we thought we had better do an update!

Brooke came back to London to meet up with us for our 3 month jaunt around Europe. We flew into Rome after leaving London at an ungodly hour, to enjoy a sunny 20+ degrees. YAY!! Finally some spring weather! We met up with our friends Lauren & Steve, who are currently holidaying in France and Italy as well.

We had nearly a week in Rome. We did a heap of walking and saw the major sights, although we have saved the Vatican City for when we get back there later in the month, with our bus tour.

The Colosseum was amazing! We got there early after being warned and it was worth it. There is some cool things to see in there. They have been doing some work to get it back up to scratch.

We also made time for the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain and some other amazing memorials. Everywhere you go in this city, you will be walking along and stumble into some other piece of 2000 year old building or fountain. They love there water fountains here!

The place below is a memorial to the unknown soldier.
It is the most impressive memorial I have ever seen. Words cannot describe how big the place is. We also got to see some ruins and stuff. We went to this museum where there was so many heads (statues of busts), it was a bit freaky.

Everything in Rome is big, from the rooms to the museums and the crowds! So many people! The traffic is mad!
We have gone out for meals, with the standard pizza/pasta being the norm. We had a couple of outstanding meals which was awesome. We have finally had the best Tiramisu ever. We have been waiting a long time for one to beat a Tiramisu consumed in Perth a few years ago.

11/5/05
After a late start and a dodgy breakfast we went and bought the "Roma" pass. This entitles you to a couple of free entries and discounts on the rest of the museums and stuff in Rome. Free buses too.

We stumbled accross an invitation for a pub crawl in Rome, which we took up. 15 Euros each including a t-shirt, drinks before hand, free addmission and a shooter at each place. The girls left early, and the boys kicked on of course!! The girls came back to find the boys pissed and ready to climb into a taxi and head home. Not without the girls having dramas of there own. It took them over 1 1/2 hours to find our pub. Some pretty sore heads in the morning.

We enjoyed some final great Roman hospitality and food at a small restaurant with Lauren & Steve for a farewell dinner with them before we were all moving on in different directions.

Coming soon..... The French Rivieria

Hey Guys,
Sounds like your trip is missing out on two important elements... Marie & Petra! We saw the crew on the weekend for Blankos engagement party. What a night! We started at the parents place then stumbled next door for more shots. Everyone seems happy and well! Petra just had her birthday and in 2 weeks time we are going rock climbing to celebrate... following last years tradtion of paintballing. Marie is partying up with Megan, Rachel and even corrpted poor lil Kelly! Mark & Tegs baby girl is a cute lil thang called Violet and still has a lil bump on her head from being vaccuumed out. We love the web page and we'll be regular commentators. Missing youz lots and lots. We'll keep in touch. Marie & Petra
