Return To Perth - October 2006

PERTH

It was a whirlwind trip home to Perth. Time just flew by and a month just came and went. There is so many people that we wanted to meet up with but we did miss some. Damn! Time just goes so fast!

THE WEDDING OF PAUL AND JO KIRKHAM – 5 October 2006

Paul and Jo’s Wedding was great. It was in a quaint chapel in Cannington. We managed to surprise a few people, although Agg blabbed to Davo that we were coming back! Verina, Tracey and Paul were surprised to see us. It was awesome to have the crew back together again.

The service was at Woodloes Homestead, in Cannington. A lovely spot near the Canning river, very quaint! The service was quite relaxed, and the customised vows were a nice touch. The whole wedding party looked a treat with the matching ties to the bridesmaids' dresses. Beers and sparkling wine served afterward was a nice touch. After the pictures were taken it was time to move on.

The Reception at AQWA was awesome. We had drinks in the aquarium. Everyone was really enjoying checking out all the fish. Before we knew it we had to go in and we hadn’t been in the aquarium yet! Verina talked the security guard into letting us go have a quick look! The beer was flowing, the food was great and the company even better. Speeches were great and the wedding games after for the garter etc. were a real laugh! Cam and Aaron were back to their old ways, enjoying a few drinks together. Everyone had a great time and the food was fantastic!

You can check out the rest of the photos of this special day at our photobucket site: http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n1/cambodian073/Australia%20Oct%2006/The%20Wedding%20of%20Paul%20and%20Jodi/

A few of us caught up the next day at Sebel in East Perth for a BBQ. We all checked out each others photos on the TV and chatted about the Wedding together. The boys were back in to the beer!

That night we went to the Kennedy’s for a big BBQ. Nat’s folks came along too and it was great to have all the family together. Hilda put on a fine show with plenty of food! Peter even made soup and dessert! It was a great night!

CAMS BIRTHDAY - 17th October

Cam had his birthday on 17 October and we went to Silks for dinner. All the family were there to celebrate his big day. We found out some sad news, Cam’s Aunty May had a massive stroke, which put a dampener on the night. We wish her all the best in her recovery. Peter spent a few weeks in Adelaide, with May and supporting Bob at this hard time.

18 October. I was hoping to surprise Lauren. I’d tried a few times to get in contact, but it just didn’t work out. So I rang her! She asks where I’m calling from, and I say, I’m in Perth!! It was total silence on the other end of the line!! She was so surprised!! I met up with her straight out of work and we celebrated with a bottle of Margaret River Driftwood Wine! We talked and talked, and drinks turned in to dinner! It was a special night that I certainly won’t forget!! Thank you Lauren!

THE WEDDING OF CRAIG AND FIONA – 20 October 2006

We checked in to Norfolk Hotel in Freo for the night. The Wedding was held in St Johns in Fremantle. It was an amazing day. The weather was awesome. It was about 32 degrees and there was no sea breeze. Almost unheard of in Freo! The Wedding was very special, after 10 years together, it was a long wait, but it was worth it. Nat hasn’t seen Fiona and Craig so happy. It was very special. The reception was beautiful at Esplanade Fremantle. We were mentioned in Fiona’s Dad’s speech for making the journey back for their Wedding and Craig made a very special mention of us in his speech. Craig’s speech was amazing, everyone was talking about Craig’s speech, it was awesome!

We have some more pictures in the Photobucket: http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n1/cambodian073/Australia%20Oct%2006/The%20Wedding%20of%20Craig%20and%20Fiona/

The next morning we had breakfast at Gino’s and met Davo for a coffee too. Davo bought Cam a fancy lens cloth for his camera as a birthday present. It was great to be hanging out with Davo, back to old times!

It turned out to be an expensive day today. We walked in to Dick Smith and they had a lap top at a special price, we couldn’t refuse! We’d been talking about getting a lap top for a while, so we did it!

CAM'S MUM, HILDA'S BIRTHDAY - 26th October

We surprised her tonight. She had no idea where we were going for dinner. Heather, Shayle and Alyssa picked her up. Alyssa put a blind fold on her. We went to a little Italian Restaurant called Matilda’s in Vic Park. It was awesome! She was so surprised and very happy. We chipped in together for a coffee machine for a birthday present. Nat’s Mum bought her a big bunch of flowers. Three bunches of flowers for the day and she was so appreciative of not only the gifts but to have us all together for her birthday. All but Peter, Cam’s Dad, as he was still in Adelaide with Auntie May. She had a great birthday! The food was also amazing!

Gosh so many things to remember! We caught up with many friends and family. In short, Cam went to the final Rally Australia with Davo. Lunch at Hillarys with Renay & Josh, Sue & Timmy. Chinese with Hampton’s and Miskelly's at Ocean Dragon. Noodles at Ben & Verina’s house with the crew, Davo, Tracey, Paul, Ben & Verina. Chinese with Sandy, Gary, Charlotte, Tony & Bridgette & Kylie. So many great memories. That is what make it so hard to leave home and head overseas. But we look forward to hearing your travels and your stories.

Drinks and nibbles with Fiona and Craig. That was a great night guys, we feel so special that we got to see your Wedding album on the day that you got it and only a day after you got back from your honeymoon!

Farewell party at Miskelly house! A great night with close family and friends. A last minute party, although we had crazy weather that night, we still had a great time. A big thanks to everyone who took the time out to come and see us before we headed back to the UK on our next journey.

NANA'S BIRTHDAY - 5 November

A very special breakfast at Trigg Island CafĂ©. They really make a great hot breakfast there and the coffee is great. All they needed was some freshly squeezed juice and it would of been perfect. Cam’s captured some great pictures that day. A big storm was brewing off the coast and the skies were getting really black. We had a beautiful breakfast and had photos out overlooking the ocean afterwards. Only five minutes after we left, on our way home we got hit by the storm. Heavy ran was pouring, we could hardly see out the windscreen!

Back to Mum’s, collected our cases and off we went to Perth Airport. After a dodgy Qantas check-in guy wanted to charge us $365 excess baggage for being 3kgs each overweight, are you serious!? We transferred some stuff out of our suitcase in to our hand luggage. We really can’t understand the difference hey!! We said a teary goodbye to our families and off we went back to the chilly cold of London!

A pretty uneventful flight over to London, with even a bit of room to stretch out as the plane was not full. But we must say that overall British Airways was OK but there is better airlines out there. At least we didn't fell crook from the food but!

When we landed, it was only 2 degrees! Our warm clothes had been given to Brooke at Heathrow before we left for Perth! Lucky for Nat, her Mum had given her a big warm woolly Mainpeak jacket! Poor Cam had to layer up his t-shirts!

Coming up, our 1st month back in London. Welcome to Winter!

Cambo & Nat
