Live Earth

Hey all,

It has been a pretty busy couple of months, but no travels unfortunately. But we have a big trip away in late September, which we will give you the guff once we get back!

But there has been all sort of things that we have been doing in the mean time. First adventure - Live Earth!

Live Earth

We got some last minute tickets for the world wide Environmental awareness concert, at the new Wembley stadium. This was the first time that we have been here and was very impressed! It has a really good layout, and would be perfect for a football game. Wembley itself is a bit of dive...

Got there to see the first band, Genesis. They weren't too bad. The bands were coming and going. It was a long afternoon! It was a little hard to get into the bands as they were only doing about 2 or 3 songs each. But the final few bands were awesome! Here is a few videos of them in action.

Snow Patrol

Metallica

Foo Fighters

Madonna

Well as you can see it was pretty mad! The camera was running out of space towards the end hence the short videos. But the stand out at the end of the day was Foo Fighters. They really got the crowd jumping and were cranking! It was a great day. Seeing the feeds from around the world really brings it home. The environmental message was great but there was a few obvious floors:
  • The waste from the day was very excessive. You weren't even allowed to reuse your beer cups!
  • The energy used must of been way over the top. All the lighting etc. Even though they claimed it was green power, it still seemed like a lot of wasted energy!
  • They claimed to have made everybody aware and it was going to make a difference. SMS messages and stuff on how we can make a difference. But nothing has really happened!
Well a good day, all in all. So onto the next day, Tour de France!

Tour de France
It was a huge weekend in London, with so much going on it was hard to fit it all in.
We went down to Trafalgar square on Friday to see the opening ceremony. There was over 1,000,000 people down there to see it!
